Another day, another nationwide, all-products recall by a compounding pharmacy after an FDA inspection. This time, the compounder in question is The Compounding Shop of St. Petersburg, Fla., says the FDA. With such recalls stacking up, how's your facility's drug supply holding up?
Take Outpatient Surgery Magazine's 5-minute survey and fill us in on how things have changed for your facility in the wake of the fungal-meningitis outbreak that's brought new scrutiny to compounding pharmacies.
The Compounding Shop is one of many to have found itself in the FDA's company in recent weeks and, during an inspection of its premises, FDA investigators "observed poor sterile production practices that raise concerns about a lack of sterility assurance of [the] sterile drug products," the agency says. The compounded products include a range of injectable pain management drugs and analgesics. If any of your facility's stock came from The Compounding Shop, the FDA asks that you quarantine them and await further instructions from the company.
