Save $2,000 on Suction Tubing

To save on the sterile suction tubing you attach to flexible endoscopes, cut the standard 12-foot lengths in half. The cut end still fits on an endoscope's suction port and the remaining 6 feet should still be long enough to reach a suction canister hung near the patient. A 12-foot section of tubing costs us $1.09. Last year, we cared for 3,842 patients ($1.09 x 3,842 = $4,187.78), so cutting the tubing in half saved us more than $2,000.
