PEDIATRIC PULSE OX
Let Kids Wear PJs for Surgery
Ask the parents of infants and toddlers to bring their children to your facility in their PJs with footed bottoms (or at least their own clean socks). Let each child stay in his pajamas during surgery, and place the gown on top of the PJs. Once the child is asleep in the OR, place the sticky pediatric pulse ox monitor on his big toe. When the child wakes in the PACU, he'll never realize that he's being monitored. Your PACU nurse will be able to get continuous accurate O2 sats until discharge.
