MAKING ROUNDS
Rounding With a Purpose

We round daily on staff and surgeons in the OR and PACU. We call it "leader rounding with a purpose." We ask a set of questions that help us make quick fixes as well as identify issues that we need to address. This rounding has been well received by staff and physicians. Some of the questions we ask:

  • What is working well for you today?
  • Are there any staff or physicians you would like to recognize today?
  • Did you have all the needed equipment to do your job?
  • Were there any processes to improve? If so, please provide your recommendations.
  • Any tough questions for me?
  • What do you need from me as a leader?
