Use the Fire Cone For Emergency Drills

To help staffers prepare for what to do in the event of a fire, we drill using a Fire Cone. When we hold an unannounced fire drill, we place the cone in an area where the "fire" is occurring. Then, after an employee discovers the "fire," she removes the decals on the cone and performs R.A.C.E — Rescue, Alarm, Contain and Extinguish. As she goes through each step, she leaves the decal in the area where she performed the action, like on the telephone after (pretending to) call 911 for the Alarm step.
