Don't Double-Bag Sharp Instruments
I've seen many techs double-bag sharp instruments in peel packs, worrying that the sharpness will poke through the plastic during sterilization. This is obviously against standard procedures. The solution is simple: Place sharp instruments in instrument protectors that feature a transparent pouch that secures the tip of the instrument, keeping it from poking through a single bag during the sterilization process. Plus, there's an added bonus — the protectors will keep the instrument open in the bag, making the sterilization far more effective.
