BD's new PurPrep is the only fully sterile povidone-iodine plus isopropyl alcohol antiseptic skin prepping agent on the market. The new formulation is a fluid-resistant, film-forming polymer that improves drape adhesion and helps the iodine stick to the skin for greater antimicrobial protection. PurPrep is an option when chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) is contraindicated for prepping the surgical site or for patients who are sensitive to CHG. The product is available in a single-use applicator to eliminate cross-contamination risks and promote aseptic technique.

A new wireless transceiver from FSN Medical Technologies employs beamforming line-of-site technology to send ultra-high definition video to authenticated monitors and recording devices within a 10-meter radius. The encrypted video is protected from eavesdropping devices or hackers and sent in frequencies that don't interfere with other wireless signals, resulting in streaming video that is uncompressed and free from lagging or stalling. A smart antenna allows for the sending of video around stationary objects and two receivers are available for the routing of a single image to dual displays.
