Color-coded Labels Highlight High-Risk Medications
Medi-Dose/EPS has added blue, red, orange, green and pink options to its popular line of bright yellow Lid-Label Covers. The additional colors will help providers identify specific classes of drugs contained in medication blister packs, says the company. The labels feature a moisture-resistant seal and can be created with the company's proprietary printing software to display barcodes, graphics, tall-man lettering, logos and symbols, which increase the amount of information displayed to further reduce the risk of medication errors.

Single-use Laparoscope Safer, Cost-effective Option
Xenocor announced it has received FDA clearance for the Xenoscope, a disposable 5mm articulating laparoscope with integrated fog-free technology and a 90-degree articulating tip. The scope is designed to improve image quality, reduce the time and costs associated with reprocessing reusable instruments, and eliminate cross-contamination risks. It connects to the company’s reusable video processor, which is compatible with existing OR imaging systems and displays video on any high-definition monitor.

Minimally Invasive Bunion Repair
The miniBunion from CrossRoads Extremity Systems is inserted through a 15mm to 20mm incision on the inner side of the foot, two to three times smaller than incisions made on top of the foot during traditional open bunion surgery. The minimally invasive approach results in less trauma to the toes and tissue, which limits the development of scar tissue and leads to improved post-op cosmesis, rapid recovery and quicker return to normal life activities. The system also allows for better alignment of the foot's bones to reduce post-op pain and swelling, and the need for post-op physical therapy.
