Ideas That Work: ‘Donation Bins’ Help Multiple Communities

Practical pearls from your colleagues

When OrthoArizona recently decided to hold a food drive, it pulled out all the stops. Rather than limiting the effort to one facility helping a single community, it placed donation boxes at each of its more than two dozen locations in Central and Northern Arizona’s Salt River Valley. While the boxes appeared early in the holiday season, the orthopedic group decided to keep them there year-round. Patients and staff at the multispecialty orthopedic clinics are encouraged to make donations to the food drive, which is a partnership between OrthoArizona and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and is targeted to help people in the region who are experiencing homelessness. Most kinds of unopened, non-perishable, shelf-stable food items are accepted.  OSM
