Great Ideas for your OR

Help Apnea Patients Breathe Easier

Help Apnea Patients Breathe Easier

Mercury Medical’s Flow-Safe II Plus lets you care for apnea patients safely, efficiently and conveniently. Toggle between delivering a single level of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for hypoxic patients or bi-level pressure — inspiratory positive airway pressure (IPAP) and expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP) — for hypercapnic patients. The disposable, easy-to-assemble system features a built-in manometer that verifies delivered CPAP pressure and a relief valve that automatically vents excess pressure. The lightweight face mask and adjustable elastic head harness are available in small, medium and large sizes to provide a better seal and added comfort for pediatric and adult patients.

Ophthalmic Knives

More Precise Ophthalmic Knives

The blades on the new Sharpoint Edge Clear Control 3D Plus line of phaco incision knives feature vertical micro bevels that make 3-dimensional incisions, giving surgeons more control and sharper cuts with less penetration force than standard ophthalmic blades. The beveled design also reduces stress on wound margins and makes it easier to insert and manipulate instruments through the resulting incision. The blades are 0.13mm thick, thinner than standard 0.17mm slit knives, and are available in 1.6mm to 3.2mm sizes.

Rehabbing at Home\

Rehabbing at Home

Patients recovering from shoulder surgeries, including replacements, can now run through prescribed rehab exercises in the comfort of their own living rooms. Reflexion Health’s Virtual Exercise Rehabilitation Assistant VERA for upper extremities features an animated avatar coach who teaches and motivates as patients perform rehabilitation exercises. The platform also tracks patients’ adherence and progress with real-time monitoring by a licensed physical therapist, who is able to adjust therapies as needed. The digital platform increases patient satisfaction and eliminates physical therapy appointments, one of recovery’s primary cost drivers in this era of value-based care.
