Ideas That Work: A Colorful Way to Celebrate New Arrivals

When Melissa Arnold, MD, was on maternity leave from Saltzer Health’s North Nampa clinic in Idaho, her colleagues wanted to do something special (and different) to welcome her back. “She had a girl, so we dyed our hair pink instead of giving her a bouquet of flowers,” says Megan Kasper, MD, an obstetrician and gynecologist generalist. Some members of the staff added a few pink clip-ins, while others went to a local salon for a more permanent color change. The practice’s lone male physician even wore a pink shag wig. Dr. Arnold loved the gesture. “She told everyone she was so glad to be back, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled that she and her baby were happy and healthy,” says Dr. Kasper.
