Improved Outcomes Using UV-C Disinfection: Targeting Prevalent MDROs
About this Course
The constant risks posed by a broad range of microorganisms in fast-paced healthcare environments can be overwhelming. A targeted approach utilizing UV-C air and surface disinfection technologies to address the highest-risk patient areas (operating room, emergency room, ICU, NICU, hematology/oncology and C. difficile patient rooms) and prevalent multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) can inform best practices, positive outcomes, and peace of mind.
This primer will cover (1) the most prevalent MDRO; (2) UV-C air and surface disinfection technologies and how to evaluate their broad-spectrum efficacy; and (3) hands-on best practices for safe, effective implementation.
Learning Objectives
- Describe ongoing challenges related to MDROs and Healthcare-associated Infections.
- Review UV-C air and surface disinfection applications to reduce environmental bioburden.
- Implement best practices to implement UV-C air and surface disinfection to improve patient outcomes.
