  • During this step, include your Perioperative Nurse Educator, Perioperative Data Analytics Manager, Informatics Professional, and any Subject Matter Experts.
  • Allow approximately four weeks to complete this process.

Build Your New Content into Your Current Data Structure

  • You can now begin mapping your health care record fields to the PNDS for enhanced sharing and comparing of data.
  • Be sure to include an Information Technology Representative and/or your Electronic Medical Record Analyst and your Informatics Professional.
  • This process will take approximately eight weeks to complete.

Test Your Documentation Changes

  • Be sure to set aside enough time to test.
  • Allow three weeks to ensure your mapping is accurate.
  • Plan to include your Perioperative Nurse Educator, Subject Matter Experts, and your team’s Perioperative Data Analytics Manager in this process.

Educate Your Staff

  • Now it’s time to educate your perioperative nursing staff.
  • Your Perioperative Nurse Educator can lead the way and also include your Informatics Professional, and allow approximately two weeks to get your team up to speed.
  • The AORN Syntegrity team is also here to help your team optimize your newly updated perioperative content and improved documentation process.
