A woman who ran a spray tan business out of an Indiana plastic surgery center has filed a class action lawsuit against the facility over its use of hidden camera surveillance in the room she used for tanning.

The Van Natta Plastic Surgery and Meridian Plastic Surgery Center in Carmel, Ind., has confirmed to a local news station that it mounted 2 cameras in the facility, including one in the makeup room where Pam Sanders ran her tanning business. The cameras were used for "security purposes," says surgery center spokeswoman Myra Borshoff Cook, due to a theft problem. She told reporters that the cameras were on while Ms. Sanders used the room for tanning, but she doesn???t know if clients were informed of their presence.

Ms. Sanders said she didn???t know about the cameras when she and her female clients used the room for spray-tanning purposes while partially or completely nude. She says an employee alerted her to the cameras in May. She???s filed a police report in addition to the class action suit, which alleges that the camera was connected to an IP address and computer of one of the surgery practice???s members.

Ms. Cook says the facility has hired a forensics company to determine whether the tapes were viewed by anyone, but they have "no reason to believe" that they were.
