Steris Corp. and Intuitive Surgical are integrating their technologies to create advanced, ergonomic suites for minimally invasive robotic surgery.

A new collaborative agreement between the 2 companies allows Steris to integrate its HD 360 ? Suites technology with Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci Surgical System and da Vinci Si VisionBoom upgrade "to create a holistic solution that is highly advanced and technologically seamless," Steris announced last week.

"This enhanced MIS suite is designed to increase efficiency for surgeons and their staffs," says Bill O'Riordan, Steris' vice president and general manager of surgical solutions. For example, Steris says the new configuration accommodates various forms of digital media while keeping cords and equipment off the floor, freeing up space for robotics and other minimally invasive technologies.
