Preventing Patient Burns Is a Snap

Preventing Patient Burns Is a Snap
Exposed surgical light cables can generate temperatures up to 450 ?F at their distal ends (which are closest to the patient), potentially causing a skin burn or OR fire in less than 10 seconds. Now there's a product to prevent these catastrophic events. SensorMed's CableCap acts as a plug for the end of activated light cables during surgical procedures. CableCap diffuses the energy generated by the cables, making them cool to human touch and preventing burn and fire risk. The translucent plug is inserted into the distal end of the light cables whenever they're unattached to the scope.

Endoscope Sheath Protects and Pre-Cleans

Endoscope Sheath
Protects and Pre-Cleans

The DeRoyal ProShield, a single-use sheath for fiber-optic bronchoscopes, helps to protect the delicate devices from damage during transport, while also allowing pre-cleaning to begin immediately after use. A reprocessed scope is inserted into the funnel-shaped mouth of the rigid, latex-free sheath, in which it can be stored and carried safely to a procedure. Once the case begins, the "Clean" label is removed from the sheath, revealing the "Dirty" label. After the case, the scope is replaced in the sealed-bottom sheath along with enzymatic rinsing solution and taken to central sterile. Once reprocessed, the scope can be hung in a new, clean sheath, ready for its next use.
