A routine traffic stop turned bizarre last week when an ASC nurse allegedly made death threats and racial slurs against officers who arrested her, repeatedly telling cops that if they or their relatives "end up on my operating table, I'm going to make sure you all die," police said.

Teresa Starling, 39, works at the Ambulatory Surgery and Laser Center of Cape Cod in Sandwich, Mass., according to police and her Facebook page. Police said they plan to notify the ASC and file some sort of notification regarding her nursing license. Calls to the surgical center for comment were not returned.

Police gave this account. Ms. Starling and her boyfriend were pulled over because of a noisy muffler at 1:30 a.m. Monday. Ms. Starling, who was swaying on her feet outside the car, became belligerent when police told her she wouldn't be allowed to drive home "due to her level of intoxication." After she refused to take a Breathalyzer test, police told Ms. Starling that she was going to be placed in protective custody, at which point she began kicking the officers with metal stiletto high heels, spitting and flailing. Ms. Starling was handcuffed and put into the back of a cruiser. On the trip to the police station, Ms. Starling kicked the Plexiglas and yelled racial slurs at an officer.

It took 3 officers to get Ms. Starling out of the cruiser and into the booking area once they arrived at the police station. "She fought us the entire booking process and continued to try and kick us and spit on us and forced us to literally drag her into the cell," police said. Ms. Starling continued making threats even when she was sober, police said.

Charges against Ms. Starling include assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, vandalism of property (cruiser) and 2 counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (her high heels).

In this news video, Ms. Starling admitted that she attacked and threatened police, but claims that she was mistreated during her arrest, pointing to her badly bruised arms and legs as proof.
