A new service billing itself as an "Angie's List" for surgeons and surgery centers is up and running.

Exclusive Surgeries Network lets surgeons and ambulatory surgery centers connect directly with patients through a limited networking system. The company says it works with employers who want their employees to have access to the group's list of top ASCs and doctors.

The service only lets qualified surgeons and ASCs be a part of the networking group, says Suzanne Webb, CEO of Exclusive Surgeries Network, who adds that surgeons are vetted before they're included on the website. According to Ms. Webb, the doctors are peer-referred and undergo a thorough background check. On the other side, employers sign up for the service, letting their employees access the ranking information.

"We are like an Angie's List for surgeons and surgery centers," says Ms. Webb. "You can't pay to be a member, you have to earn it, and our surgeons and ambulatory surgical centers have done exactly that."

Currently, Exclusive Surgeries Network is focused in Los Angeles, but anticipates expanding to San Francisco and eventually the East Coast.
