Facility Spotlight: Inside Looks at Four Standout Centers

Share:

Check out more than 100,000 square feet of outpatient excellence.

Normally we profile one new or recently renovated facility in this section of the Special Edition on Surgical Construction, but this year we decided to try something a little bit different.

With dozens of sleek and stunning new ASCs and HOPDs and a host of recently expanded facilities opening last year alone, it was impossible for our editorial staff to select just one standout. Instead, we’re providing a peek at a handful of facilities that embody the spirit of outpatient surgery. These spotlight selections were chosen for their aesthetically pleasing designs and their ability to perform innovative, in-demand outpatient procedures.

Claire C. Brodesser Surgery Center

Cape May Court House, N.J.
Located on the campus of the Cape Regional Medical Center campus, the Claire C. Brodesser Surgery Center is a 19,000-square-foot ASC that was designed with the patient experience in mind at every turn. For instance, separate entrance and discharge locations were constructed for the convenience of patients and their families, and pre-op and recovery areas were strategically designed to maintain maximum privacy. The center boasts four 600-square-foot ORs and two endoscopic suites, and is outfitted with state-of-the-art HD video capabilities to bolster its highly skilled surgical staff’s ability to perform cutting-edge laparoscopic procedures.

The Center for Advanced Ambulatory Surgery at Saratoga Medical Park at Malta

Malta, N.Y.
This $19.1 million, 28,500-square-foot facility is the result of a collaboration between The Bone & Joint Center, Albany Med and Saratoga Hospital. It was created to provide a one-stop shop for outpatient bone, joint and muscle procedures for patients in the Northeastern U.S. and Canada (see “Outfitting for the Ortho Boom” on page 16). The center is divided into two floors, the first of which contains eight pre-op and eight post-op bays, six ORs and six discharge rooms. Each OR is equipped with robotic platforms, specialized surgical tables and the most cutting-edge spine surgery equipment and instrumentation.

The second floor is dedicated office space for Bone & Joint Center physicians. For convenience, patients can undergo an assortment of imaging, lab work and pre-op services at Malta Med Emergent Care, and postoperative rehab is available a short distance away at Saratoga Hospital’s Regional Therapy Center at Malta.

The Vascular Institute of the Rockies

Denver
Following a recent renovation project that wrapped up in March of last year, the Vascular Institute of the Rockies (VIR), which is housed in a three-story, 21,000-square-foot building, became the only multidisciplinary vascular and cardiovascular office-based lab (OBL) and ambulatory surgery center in the state of Colorado to bring together cardiologists, vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists under the same roof. The surgery center contains six procedure rooms that can also be used interchangeably as pre-op or post-op suites. The OBL contains nine patient suites, seven ultrasound rooms and a dedicated physician office for telemedicine. Patients undergo minor outpatient procedures, such as laser ablations to treat varicose veins, in two modern procedure rooms. Clinicians can observe procedures being performed in real time and provide expert education and training from an executive office space on the first floor.
