Bruno Teixeira

PhD Student and Researcher

Bruno Teixeira has 24 years of experience, 12 in surgical recovery, 3 in NICU, and 9 in perioperative nursing working as a clinical nurse in both the scrub and circulating roles, a perioperative educator, and a perioperative clinical nurse anaesthesist specialist.  

He is currently a PhD student in the Doctoral Program for Clinical Research and Health Services (PDICSS) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), where he proposes to develop the project for the Thesis: "Contributions of evidence-based intraoperative nursing care for the Prevention of Unintentional Retention of Surgical Items".  Participated as a researcher in 1 project and participates as researcher/coordinator in ongoing research project: "Contributions of evidence-based intraoperative nursing care to the Prevention of Unintentional Retention of Surgical Items", part of a partnership between the iHealth4Well-being research unit of the Higher Education Cooperative Polytechnic and University (CESPU) and the research center of Hospital Pedro Hispano;  He has been developing research and of improving practices in partnership with AORN members/colleagues. It has been focused on promoting networking between Portuguese perioperative nursing and AORN in the preparation and dissemination of scientific events and creation of partnerships.
