Dawn M. Yost, MSN, RN, CNOR, CSSM

Seasoned OR nurse and board member of West Virginia Organization of Nurse Leaders

Dawn M. Yost has been an OR nurse since 1982. She first practiced perioperative nursing in private practice settings of oral and maxillofacial surgery and then in ophthalmology. In 1987, she began working at West Virginia University Hospitals as an assistant nurse manager in perioperative services and has since held many positions in perioperative services and sterile processing at the Level 1 trauma hospital. Some of the positions included: clinician, clinical manager, perioperative coordinator, preceptor, laser coordinator (as well as the manager SPD), support services, and training & development for surgical services. She currently works as the business manager of perioperative services. She has also served as president of the Competency and Credentialing Institute and served on their board of directors for six years. Additionally, Yost served nine years on the board of directors and as chair of the Nursing and Medical Services Committee for Resurge International, a not-for-profit surgical mission group. In addition, Yost was a member on the board of directors for AORN, 2016-18, and was co-author for the 2015 AORN OR CORE award for WVU Hospitals, Inc. - Silver Award. She currently serves on the board of directors of the West Virginia Organization of Nurse Leaders.
