Margaret E. Vance, MSN, RN, CNOR

Educator and Clinical Nurse Education Specialist, Pennsylvania Hospital

Margaret Vance has been a perioperative RN for more than 10 years and has held various roles in the operating room. After graduating with her BSN in 2012, she began her career as a staff nurse at a Level 1 trauma center in Lehigh Valley, Pa. After two years, she began her career at Pennsylvania Hospital, an entity of Penn Medicine. After completing her MSN in nurse education, she accepted the role as clinical nurse education specialist for her unit. Overseeing more than 120 staff members, Vance is responsible for professional development opportunities, quality improvement initiatives and a facilitator of the AORN Periop 101 program. In addition to her hospital-based career, Margaret serves as adjunct faculty for Delaware County Community College's Perioperative Nursing Course. Margaret is an active member of the AORN Clinical Nurse Specialty Assembly and is looking forward to collaborating with other educators on a novice nurse column in the AORN Journal. She has multiple publications including poster presentations, publications in the AORN Journal, and has also served as an editor for the 17th edition of Alexander's Care of the Patient in Surgery.
