Patricia McGaffigan, MS, RN, CPPS, is a distinguished leader in healthcare and patient safety. As the president of the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety and vice president of Safety at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), she oversees a comprehensive range of patient and workforce safety initiatives. She also serves as a senior sponsor for IHI's Lucian Leape Institute, co-chairs the National Steering Committee for Patient Safety, and has a wealth of experience in clinical practice, academia, and technology companies focused on safety monitoring and clinical decision support. McGaffigan holds a Certified Professional in Patient Safety designation, is a graduate of the AHA-NPSF Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship Program, and contributes to various national committees and advisory boards, including the Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety Editorial Advisory Board.
