Fellows are exemplary nurse leaders who have demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, education, research and evidence-based practice, or perioperative leadership. Each Fellow undergoes a rigorous peer-reviewed assessment of their qualifications, contributions, and alignment with AORN’s mission, vision, and values.

About the FAORN Program
The FAORN credential recognizes perioperative nurse leaders who have made significant and ongoing contributions to AORN and the broader perioperative community. Becoming a Fellow signifies a sustained commitment to advancing surgical safety, supporting professional practice, and shaping the future of perioperative nursing beyond the local level.
The program was envisioned by 2018 AORN President Stephanie Davis and approved by the AORN Board of Directors in 2020. Since then, the Fellowship Selection Committee has continued to refine the application process, provide educational resources, and uphold the rigorous standards required for FAORN distinction.
