James Cousin, MBA, CPA

James Cousin, MBA, CPA, is the Chief Financial Officer. He’s been with the association since 2001. In this capacity, James oversees accounting, the AORN Surgical Conference & Expo (top 150 national convention in the United States), HR, membership, HCO sales team, business intelligence, and facilities management. James created AORN’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion plan in 2020 and for nearly five years served as the Chief Diversity Officer before the role was re-assigned to another AORN leader. He has more than 37 years of experience in finance and accounting in various industries: healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, oil & gas and a Big 4 CPA firm. James earned an MBA from the University of Colorado (executive MBA program) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from California State University, Long Beach. He holds an active CPA license from the state of California. James has served as a board member on multiple organizations, including Delta Dental of Colorado, Denver Scholarship Foundation and Vectra Bank Advisory Board.
