Dr. Josh Wymer, DNP, MSPM, MA, RN, CNOR, CSSM(E), FACHE, FAAN

Dr. Josh Wymer is the Chief Health Information & Data Strategy Officer with the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services serving 6.2M Missourians. Dr. Wymer is also faculty at the University of San Diego and a co-founder, partner, and advisor with startups across the healthcare space. He is a Lifetime Member of AORN and has been affiliated with the Evergreen, San Diego, and St. Louis chapters. His volunteerism with AORN has included a wide variety of working groups, committees, and task forces over the years.

As a retired Lieutenant Commander, Navy Nurse Corps, with more than 20 years of active duty service, Dr. Wymer's previous roles include Chief Health Information Officer for the Defense Health Agency’s San Diego Market and Chief Nursing Informatics Office with Naval Medical Center San Diego and Regional Health Clinics. He also held leadership roles in perioperative nursing and surgical services to include direct support to multinational and special operations forces across multiple combat zone deployments in the Middle East and Horn of Africa.

Dr. Wymer is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and holds credentials in perioperative nursing (CNOR), nursing informatics (NI-BC), and as a nurse executive (NEA-BC), digital health executive (CDH-E), and healthcare chief information officer (CHCIO). As a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN), Josh is a recognized for his advocacy across surgical services management, nursing specialty certification, change management, human-centered design, digital transformation, and interprofessional teams.

Dr. Wymer's B.S. in Nursing is from Seattle University. He completed an M.S. in Nursing, Health Care Informatics, at the University of San Diego, an M.S. in Project Management from the University of New Hampshire, an M.A. in Enterprise Strategic Planning from the U.S. Naval War College, and a D.N.P. in Executive Leadership at Johns Hopkins University.
