National Legislative Forum
Each month Government Affairs staff lead conference calls that include topic discussion, guest speakers, advocacy training, legislative updates, and much more. By participating in the National Legislative Forum, you will be able to advocate for your patients and your profession, help promote good perioperative nursing policy, and have a better understanding of how legislation and regulations impact your practice. AORN state councils are 501(c) (6) professional membership organizations focused on policy, education, and practice issues affecting the perioperative nursing profession. State councils are typically made up of local AORN chapters and individuals. They provide forums for perioperative nurses to gather for discussion and advice on issues in their respective states.

How Can You Form a State Council?
If your state doesn’t have a state council, you can create one. Once formed, a state council can also choose to be an affiliate of AORN within the formal AORN structure. Affiliate state councils follow the mission and core values of AORN.
