AORN is excited to confirm all members will be able to participate in its 2022 business sessions.
Forums
AORN will hold two Forums as part of its 2022 Congress, one on Sunday morning, and the second Tuesday afternoon. AORN Forums are designed for discussion of items of emerging and important interest to the membership, and of those items that will be brought to the House of Delegates, such as proposed amendments to the AORN bylaws.
This year, Forum attendees will hear updates about:
- A proposed Bylaws revision related to AORN Specialty Assemblies from the Bylaws Committee Chair
- Membership trends, initiatives and benefits
- Many advancements in surgical smoke evacuation bills at the state level
- Chamberlain University’s new partnership with AORN to provide undergraduate perioperative education program incorporating AORN’s Introduction to Perioperative Nursing.
Tuesday’s Forum also leaves ample time for members to discuss any topic of interest with the AORN President.
House of Delegates
Join AORN as we share and vote on the official business of the Association. This year’s House of Delegates will take place on Monday and Wednesday during Expo, with members hearing official reports from AORN’s Treasurer; Nominating Committee; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force; AORN President, AORN Executive Director, and the AORN Foundation.
AORN members will then be asked to vote on the proposed bylaw changes that would eliminate the requirement that Specialty Assemblies meet specific accountability standards and allow all members with shared interests in perioperative specialties to assemble and network within AORN.
Before adjournment on Wednesday, members will learn election results for AORN’s Board of Directors and Nominating Committee and will hear from President-elect Vangie Dennis, MSN RN CNOR CMLSO, about her vision for the coming year and all the exciting advancements AORN members have to look forward to.
Voting and AORN Delegates
All AORN members in good standing who attend AORN Global Surgical Conference & Expo in New Orleans or who participate virtually have the privilege of voting on Association business conducted during the meeting. While state reporters are only able to report on the number of delegates attending Expo in person, all AORN members are delegates and are encouraged to participate and vote during the AORN business sessions.
The full Forum and House of Delegates agenda is available here.
Virtual Participation and Voting
Members onsite in New Orleans will participate as usual in the Forums and House of Delegates by sharing their stories and concerns from the microphones. Members wishing to participate virtually in the AORN business sessions will participate via the Zoom platform. Each session will be a stand-alone Zoom webinar and require a separate registration.
Zoom registration and instructions will be behind the member wall on the AORN website, and members must pre-register for each session by name and member number. Members participating virtually in the Zoom platform will use the Raise Your Hand feature to indicate their desire to speak, and the Chair will do her best to alternate between members at the microphones and members online.
Replays will be available, with the replay links also behind the member wall.
Voting during the Second House of Delegates will occur in a separate platform. Members in New Orleans and members on Zoom will all use the same voting app – Turning Point – on their personal device in order to vote.
The House of Delegate Rules are available here.
