Guideline Essentials are online implementation tools that help you and your entire perioperative team apply AORN’s evidence-based guidelines in everyday practice.

The AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice are intended to be achievable and represent what is believed to be an optimal level of perioperative patient care and workplace safety. Each guideline contains recommendations that are broad statements to be used to guide the development of policies, procedures, and criteria for measuring individual competency in a variety of practice settings where operative and other invasive procedures are performed.
