Hannah: Hi Alex, we’re together today. Are you ok doing the patient interview by yourself?
Alex: Hey Hannah, I am very comfy doing the patient interview by myself. I appreciate you checking with me as my preceptor for the day.
Hannah: OK, I’ll see you back in the room.
Pre-Op
Alex: …of course, do you have any other questions about the surgery today? If not, I’ll be going back to the room to get ready.
Patient/Macie: No, I think all our questions were answered. Thank you.
Alex: {Thinking to himself} She looks really anxious about the procedure. She has been fidgeting with her bracelets since I started the interview. I wonder what I can do? Wait, aren’t those the bracelets that they wear for the Taylor Swift concert? I wonder if she likes to hear music going to sleep…
Pre-Op
Alex: Hey Macie, do you want to listen to music going to sleep? We can put Taylor Swift on if you want.
Patient/Macie: REALLY?!!! I can? YES of course, can I listen to the ERAS tour setlist?
Alex: I’ll see what I can do, ok? I’ll see you inside the room.

Anesthesiologist: Okay, Macie close your eyes and think of a good dream. Imagine yourself in your happy place. I heard you like Taylor Swift. Imagine you are at her concert, and she is singing your favorite song.
